Date: January 13th 2010

Some of our loyal fans have mentioned that they'd like to know more about what goes on behind the closed doors of the CNJ rehearsals. As we wait to hear back from VH1 about the documentary, we thought we'd share an emotional experience that the band went through recently. We call it Code Name Jonah's Five Stages of Grief.

It all started when Chinh said that he won't be able to play this Friday's show at the Dana Street Roasting Company. What followed was pretty much textbook Kübler-Ross:

1) Denial: "No, it can't be. Chinh's never missed a gig before. He must have gotten the date wrong."
2) Anger: "He'd rather ski than play the gig? That bastard. Time to look for a new sax player."
3) Bargaining: "Chinh, what if we give you all the gig money?"
4) Depression: "Why bother playing? We're worthless without Chinh."
5) Acceptance: "It's ok, we can get through this with Mike on guitar."

As you can see, everything turned out well in the end. Our good friend Mike Scheinholtz will be sitting in on guitar for an evening of funk, acid jazz, standards, as well as a few Code Name: Jonah classics. Here's the scoop:
